Historia+

Historia+

Welcome to Historia+ a new publication section of our website that allows members to share some of their work and professional experience in a longer format than our bi-monthly newsletter Historia.

Submission guidelines and notes

Historia+ submissions are longer form articles, between 300 and 1200 words, published bi-monthly on the PHA website to coincide with the release of the national newsletter.

We aren’t prescriptive about the topic of these articles; however, they must be clear, concise and detailed accounts regarding the development and output of professional history projects. This content is not an opinion piece or reflective analysis. It is a detailed demonstration for professional and expert audiences.

Some questions which may help with the development of your article include:

  • Is the topic clearly defined?

  • Is the conclusion clear?

  • Is the subject of current interest to professionals and experts?

  • Is the subject addressed significant to professional historians?

  • Does the article provide new information or insights?

  • Does it build on previous work?

  • Does it duplicate existing works?

Please contact the Historia editor to propose a submission. Unsolicited materials will not be accepted.

We also have our peer reviewed journal Circa for articles and work of a more rigorous standard. See Circa submission guidelines for more details.
